FAQs

What is the Seattle Monroe Community Group?

Seattle MCG is a local, in-person gathering of consciousness explorers. We meet monthly to share experiences and explore expanded states of awareness through group activities, meditation and discussion.

Do I need to have attended a Monroe Institute program to participate?

No prior Monroe Institute experience is required. Our group welcomes both seasoned explorers and those who are just beginning their journey into consciousness exploration. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.

What happens at a typical monthly meeting?

The group meets once a month. You can find the schedule here. Each meeting is variable in agenda to keep the content and experience fresh. This may include group meditations, interactive activities, small group discussion or sharing, and occasional guest speakers or group experiments. Our meetings are experiential, supportive, and always grounded in respect and confidentiality.

What are the group’s guiding values?

Seattle MCG is rooted in curiosity, confidentiality, mutual respect, and non-judgment. We foster a welcoming space for all individuals regardless of background or experience and uphold Monroe’s mission to explore human consciousness for the betterment of humanity.

What is Monroe Sound Science®? What is HemiSync?

Monroe Sound Science is a proprietary audio guidance technology developed by the Monroe Institute. It uses binaural beat frequencies and other sound patterns to help facilitate access to expanded states of consciousness. We incorporate Monroe Sound Science and HemiSync into group meditations at many of our meetings and pre-meeting experiences.

Local Monroe Institute programs that are facilitated Monroe Institute Trainers will be planned throughout the year. They will be advertised thru the Seattle Monroe Community Group via email and on our website in the events section.

Is my personal experience or information kept private?

Yes. Confidentiality is one of our core values. We honor participants' privacy and never share personal experiences or contact information without explicit permission. This includes photography, video and audio recording.

What other resources are available?

As part of building our community resources, we’ve created a shared resource list where members can add book titles, courses, programs or other local resources that have been especially meaningful in their own consciousness exploration. This living document will serve as a collective library — a place to discover new perspectives, deepen your practice, and share resources that have inspired you.
